Win: $$$

Parkway Grill

Pasadena, Calif.

The Parkway Grill is a true treat and called “One of America’s Top Tables” by Gourmet magazine. You’ll feast on local delicacies ranging from farm-fresh vegetables to Kobe beef and fish straight from the Pacific. Oh, and their wine cellar has more than 3,000 bottles, so you’ll be able to quench your thirst with no problem!

Place: $$

The Derby Bar and Grille

Arcadia, Calif.

This steakhouse is located near Santa Anita Park and serves up some of the best steaks in all of the Los Angeles area. It’s also a very popular hangout for the horse racing set, and it’s not uncommon to run into jockeys, trainers and owners celebrating a win over a glass of wine in the wood-paneled bar. The Derby Bar and Grille is the place to see and be seen during Breeders’ Cup week.

Show: $

Din Tai Fung Dumpling House

Arcadia, Calif.

You may question my recommendation when you pull up to this restaurant in a strip mall, but once you’ve tried their delicate and delicious soup dumplings, you’ll never want to leave. Sinfully tasty and unbelievable affordable, Din Tai Fung has locations across Asia, including Singapore, Malaysia and Japan. Please note that they don’t take reservations, so you may be subjected to a long wait. Trust me, it’s worth it!
