America’s Best Racing and BetAmerica team up to provide horseplayers with their best bets of the weekend in a regular feature blog that will run on Fridays.

Each week, one of our crack handicappers - Jose Contreras, Dan Tordjman, Victoria Garofalo, Mike Johnson or Vince Mathews – will provide at least one “Best Bet” of the weekend, ideal for a win bet. The post also will include some combination of additional bets for the weekend.

For some posts, our handicappers will try to identify a longshot play of the weekend, a nice opportunity to swing for the fences on a win bet or to take a shot with a show bet.

Our handicappers also will look for strong exacta plays for the weekend or occasionally try to spot a nice opportunity for other wagers.

Place your bets at BetAmerica, which prides itself on outstanding customer service combined with the safety and security of wagering with a reputable advance-deposit wagering platform. Place your bets and you can walk away with some extra cash in your pocket.

EXACTA BOX

Belmont Park, Race 2, 1:28 p.m. ET

#3 Core Portfolio: This colt will make the second start of his career on Saturday after a disappointing effort on the turf in his debut on Sept. 19.  Perhaps the switch to the main track will wake him up.

#7 Hit It Once More: Showed major improvement in his most recent race, which was a third-place effort v. similar competition at Belmont Park on Sept. 26. If Hit It Once More continues to improve, he may be tough to beat on Saturday.

#8 Daves Gone Bananas: He will be racing for the first time in his career on Saturday, but his trainer, Rick Violette, wins with almost 30% of his first-time starters! Jockey Joe Bravo will ride.

BEST BET/WIN BET

Keeneland, Race 4, 2:45 p.m. ET

#6 Feted: This colt has already run in one race so far in his career, which was an eighth-place finish at Churchill Downs on Sept. 24. With that race now under his belt, I think Feted will be much more prepared for the second race of his career on Saturday. I have a lot of respect for Feted’s trainer, Eddie Kenneally, and Feted’s jockey, Corey Lanerie, is definitely not a stranger to the winner’s circle.

Sunday, Oct. 11

BEST BET/ WIN BET

Belmont Park, Race 7, 4:13 p.m. ET

#1 Street Jersey: This colt will be making the fifth start of his career on Sunday, and this maiden is still looking for his first win. However, Sunday’s race is farther than any other race Jersey Street has run in, and I think the change in distance will really help him out.  Look for trainer Barclay Tagg, who won the 2003 Kentucky Derby with Funny Cide, to have Street Jersey prepared for the best effort of his career on Sunday.

EXACTA BOX

Santa Anita, Race 4, 5:30 p.m. ET

#1 Wishful Winking: She is the only filly in this race with any prior experience racing on turf, which may give her a bit of an advantage over her competition on Sunday. Wishful Winking’s trainer, Mike Puype, has seen good success with his 2-year-olds over the past couple of years.

#6 Lemon Drop Sis: This filly has already started in one race in her career, which ended in a seventh-place finish at Del Mar on Sept. 6. However, I am hoping that Lemon Drop Sis improves in a big way when racing on the turf for the first time on Sunday, and I believe her early speed will also make her dangerous in this spot.

#7 Riri: This filly will be making the first start of her career on Sunday, but trainer Philip D’Amato wins with a solid 17% of his debut runner. One of the best jockeys on the California circuit, Rafael Bejarano, is named to ride.
