ABRV - LIFESTYLE

The long-awaited summer meet at Saratoga Race Course begins on Friday, July 18. Planning to visit the Spa City and have yet to find a place to stay? No worries! Check out these 10 hotel options that are close to all the summer action!

1. Gideon Putnam

Gideonhotel

The Gideon Putnam is the jewel hotel of Saratoga Springs. Nestled in the Saratoga Spa State Park, the hotel also shares property with the well-known Roosevelt Spa, Saratoga Spa Golf Course, Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Victoria Pool and the National Museum of Dance. There are a number of trails for walking and bike riding to visit the mineral springs but most importantly the hotel is only a short distance to the track.

2. Longfellows

Located right down the street from Saratoga Race Course is Longfellows Hotel and Conference Center. A little bit off the beaten path and moments from Saratoga Lake, the hotel has incredible character including an indoor pond and is also the home of one the best burgers in the Spa City.

3. Saratoga Hilton

Saratoga Hilton is always a popular choice when visitors come to Saratoga Springs. The Saratoga Hilton sits right on Broadway and it’s also connected to the Saratoga Springs City Center, so there's always something going on!

4. Saratoga Downtowner

The Saratoga Downtowner Motel is like the "Hotel California" of Saratoga Springs. The motel/hotel sits in the center of downtown Saratoga Springs and its presence does not go unnoticed. On any given summer weekend you will find Kettle Corn vendors or a musical performance in the parking lot, and you're just a short cab ride away from the races. If you're looking for a simple place to stay in the thick all of the action, this is the place for you!

5. Union Gables

Uniongableshotel

Union Gables is one of the most beautiful bed and breakfasts in Saratoga Springs. Located only steps away from Saratoga Race Course and the National Racing Museum & Hall of Fame on Union Avenue, the old Victorian house used to be a Skidmore College dormitory. It has maintained its classic charm with lush landscaping and a huge porch with comfy chairs for a great view to drink your morning coffee and read the racing form before a Saturday at the track. Also, the recent addition of a pool makes the place the perfect getaway hotel!

6. Hampton Inn

The Hampton Inn Saratoga has been a great addition to Saratoga Springs. On the corner of Lake Aveune and High Rock Avenue, the hotel is steps away from the Saratoga Farmers' Market which is a fun place to check out on Saturday morning before the races. If you stay there, make sure you check out the hotel's Saratoga Race Course-inspired restuarant, Jacob and Anthony's An American Grille for one of the best Happy Hours in Saratoga!

7. The Inn at Saratoga

Inn Sar

Though I have never personally stayed at The Inn at Saratoga, this hotel comes highly recommended by trackgoers. The hotel often features musical and comedic performances on weekend evenings and is close to the beautiful Congress Park which sits right downtown.

8. Hilton Garden Inn Saratoga

The Hilton Garden Inn on South Broadway is in the perfect location to get to the racetrack during the day, Saratoga Peforming Arts Center for a concert by evening and downtown to check out the late night social scene. If you're looking for a hotel of convenience, this may be your best bet!

9.  Saratoga Arms

SARArmshotel

A boutique hotel, Saratoga Arms has all the charm and warmth you could want from your stay in Saratoga Springs. With only 31 rooms, the family-owned bed and breakfast is just the right size for great service and privacy. Plus the downtown location is just minutes from the track!

10. Air BnB or Craigslist

Hundreds of people rent out their homes or apartments for the track season in Saratoga Springs. For some, this is a popular option, especially if you intend to stay for the entire meet or have a huge group. By searching your specific dates and accommodation requirements, you just may find a winner!
