Name: Brett Wiener (currently leading the 2014 NHC Tour)

Clearwater, Fla.

Qualifying Site:

Favorite Track:
Belmont Park and Tampa Bay Downs

Favorite Wager:
Superfecta and Pick 6

How did you first get into horse racing? I went to Aqueduct with a friend and his uncle. I was 13 and amazed at the math and figures in the Daily Racing Form.  I hit almost every race including the last race triple when the winner was DQ'd. I've been hooked ever since.

How many times have you previously qualified for the DRF/NTRA NHC? This will be my sixth year.

What is your best finish in a handicapping tournament, and what is your largest tournament payout? I won a contest on Youbet.com and collected $20,000.

What wager created the largest payout for you? I recently won a superfecta at Gulfstream Park that paid $46,000.

What is your most memorable horse racing experience? Watching Personal Ensign gut it out in the slop to remain undefeated at the Breeders' Cup ... also being at this year's Breeders' Cup and a participant in the BCBC was awesome.

Do you have any interesting hobbies, experiences or past accomplishments that others might find unique or interesting? I traveled 300+ nights a year from city to city from 1991-1998, so many "experiences" and loved to visit every horse track, dog track and casino.

Does anyone else in your family share your enthusiasm as a horseplayer? My wife joins in and is very successful. She seems to finish ahead of me almost every time.

What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of? I have the best wife and have also built a very successful business which, with our product, is the "best in the world" in our niche market.

What would you do with the NHC grand prize if you won? I would put it away for my wife to use as "slot funds" so she can enjoy herself in retirement.
