Out of the Gate with ... Jim WIlson
Jim Wilson is a horse racing fan as well as a producer and director best known for Dances with Wolves and Mr. Brooks. His newest film, due out on March 21 of this year, is 50 to 1, the story of Mine That Bird and his connections who stunned the nation with their longshot victory in the 2009 Kentucky Derby. The film stars Skeet Ulrich as trainer Chip Woolley as well as Christian Kane and William Devane as the co-owners of Mine That Bird. Watch the trailer here.

How and when I was introduced to Thoroughbred racing: My parents took me to Santa Anita in 1960. I’ve been keen on the sport ever since. Purchased my first racehorse in 1991.
My favorite racetrack: Santa Anita, you can’t beat the weather or the setting.
