TwinSpires.com showed me that my best ROI is on win and exacta so I have to say, win and exacta.

Two entries in NHC 15 - NHCQualify.com and Horsetourneys.com

How did you first get into horse racing?
As with so many participants in handicapping contests, it's a family affair. I learned to read the Daily Racing Form at my father's side when I was quite young.  I have been in love with Thoroughbred racing for most of my life.

How many times (and in which years) have you qualified for the DRF/NTRA NHC? I believe I have participated in 8 NHC Finals in Las Vegas. After family birthdays, the NHC is the next thing I mark on my calendar.

What is your best finish in a handicapping tournament, and what is your largest tournament payout?
My best finish was winning NHC VI in 2005 at Bally's Las Vegas.  The top prize was $200,000. It was eight years ago, and it feels like eight minutes ago.

What wager created the largest payout for you? Please elaborate on the circumstances (date, track, etc.)? I am remembering a very nice result for the 2011 Kentucky Derby with Animal Kingdom on top of the exacta, trifecta and Oaks/Derby Double. That made up for a decade-long drought in the Kentucky Derby dating back to Monarchos.

What is your most memorable horse racing experience?  One on track, one off. On track was being on the rail at Aqueduct with my wife in 1989 when, as a young 3-year-old, Easy Goer ran the Gotham mile in 1:32 2/5, one-fifth of a second off the world record set by Dr. Fager back in 1968. That performance gave me chills. I was at the Belmont Stakes when Easy Goer stopped Sunday Silence's bid for the Triple Crown. Off track was receiving the Eclipse Award as Handicapper of the Year at the 2006 event in Beverly Hills, Calif.  Way cool.

Do you have any interesting hobbies, experiences or past accomplishments that others might find unique or interesting? Given the events recently in Boston, I am quite proud to have qualified and run twice in the Boston Marathon. Like the NHC, I am working hard to qualify for Boston 2014.
Does anyone else in your family share your enthusiasm as a horseplayer? My father loves Thoroughbred racing and competing in handicapping tournaments. He camps out in "Family Room Downs" each weekend and we share beat stories every Monday morning.

What accomplishment in life are you most proud of? Without a question, being a father of two beautiful, smart, caring daughters, both of whom enroll at the University of Pennsylvania next fall.

What would you do with the grand prize if you won? A good deal would go to the two girls mentioned in the question above. Beyond that, there are many places in the world we would love to visit.
