How did you first get into horse racing?  I used to live in Detroit and in my late teens I would sneak out to Hazel Park Harness track.  The first Thoroughbred track I attended was Canterbury Park when I moved from Detroit to Minneapolis in 1998.  After watching my first day of live racing, I was hooked forever.  My first ownership experience was with Sovereign Stable.  It is a great operation and we have been very successful over the years.

How many times have you previously qualified for the DRF/NTRA NHC?  I have tried the last three years and have qualified all three years.

What is your best finish in a handicapping tournament, and what is your largest tournament payout?  My best finish was at the 2013 NHC.   I was 5th after the first day.  I got as high as 4th and finished in 14th place which I believe paid around $13,000.

What wager created the largest payout for you?  Easily my best day at the races was the 2011 Kentucky Derby won by Animal Kingdom.  It was the first time I picked the winner, so it was pretty exciting.  I was a genius to all my friends until Derby 2012.  I hit the win, exacta, trifecta and the super...may never happen again!

What is your most memorable horse racing experience?  For me it was the 2005 King's Bishop at Saratoga, won by Lost in the Fog.  He was 8-0 going into this race.  He ran fractions of 22 and 44 and crushed the field.  It was only my third time at Saratoga, and what I remember most is the standing ovation Lost in the Fog received as he walked past the grandstand after his win.  It was awesome.

Do you have any interesting hobbies, experiences or past accomplishments that others might find unique or interesting?  Outside of owning thoroughbreds, I enjoy golf and tennis.  I am a huge Detroit sports fan.  Hopefully I will be going to another World Series game this year.  Go Tigers!  I also coach my oldest son in Little League travel baseball.

Does anyone else in your family share your enthusiasm as a horseplayer?  My wife loves to handicap and my two oldest boys are really getting good as well.  During the summer, we go out to Canterbury Park every weekend.  We usually own between two and four thoroughbreds each summer to watch live.  For those of you who have not been to Canterbury, it is worth a special trip.  They get 10,000-15,000 people on most Saturdays.  It is a nice little Midwest gem and the best horsemen around!

What accomplishment in your life of you most proud of?  Easy answer:  My wife and three great kids.  I have two boys, eleven and nine and a six-year-old daughter.

What would you do with the NHC prize if you won?  I would love to own more thoroughbreds and would definitely do what I could to help promote Minnesota racing.  I would also plan a few more Vegas trips a year...maybe some golf trips...oh, and my wife would have a few plans as well...
