American Hall of Fame trainer Ron McAnally was born on July 11, 1932 in Covington, Kentucky.  After a childhood spent in an orphanage following the death of his mother, as well as service in the military, McAnally began his career in the Thoroughbred industry working for his uncle, Reggie Cornell, at Rockingham Park in New Hampshire.

McAnally claimed his first victory as a trainer at Hollywood Park in California in 1958, marking his first of over 2,000 wins to date. Perhaps the most notable of McAnally's trainees was John Henry, who won 27 of his 45 races and earned over $6 million, earning seven Eclipse awards.

Ron McAnally has saddled four Breeders Cup winners, is a three time Eclipse recepient in 1981, 1991 and 1992 for outstanding trainer, and was inducted into the Racing Hall of Fame in 1990. Now a resident of California, McAnally has a wife and three children.
