Leah Gyarmati grew up in Queens, N.Y., where she took a job galloping horses for Hall of Fame trainer Allen Jerkens after high school. She later obtained a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in theology, but found herself drawn back to the track.
After a brief stint as a jockey Gyarmati began training in 1999. She has since accumulated purse earnings totaling more than $10 million. Gyarmati trains top 3-year-old filly Sweet Reason, who has tallied three Grade 1 wins including the Test at Saratoga and the Acorn at Belmont Park.
