A friend working as a Standardbred groom introduced Reddam to racing when he was in high school in Windsor, Ont. He's been a racing fan ever since and entered Thoroughbred ownership in 1998 by claiming Ocean Warrior.
Since then, Reddam has found success in North America and in Europe. He won Breeders' Cup races with Wilko in 2004 and Red Rocks in 2007. Some of his many stakes winners are Square Eddie, Elloluv, Sharp Lisa, Cash Included, Swept Overboard and Mistical Plan.
Reddam reached the pinnacle of Thoroughbred racing on May 5, 2012, when his Santa Anita Derby winner I'll Have Another streaked to a clear victory in the Kentucky Derby and, of course, followed with a win in the Preakness. Reddam had another serious horse on his hands in 2016 after Nyquist won the Breeders' Cup Juvenile and Eclipse championship to become the early Kentucky Derby favorite.
Reddam earned his Ph.D in philosophy from the University of Southern California and was a professor at California State University, Los Angeles. In 1995, he founded Ditech.com, a mortgage loan company that was the first to use television and billboard advertising for current rates. He sold that company to General Motors in 1999. He is the president of CashCall, a finance lending company.
