Stuart S. Janney III is chairman of Bessemer Trust Company and Bessemer Securities Corp. and chairman of the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab and a trustee of Johns Hopkins Medicine and Johns Hopkins University
Introduced to racing through his parents, Stuart and Barbara, who owned the champion filly Ruffian, one of the most beloved fillies of her generation. The Janneys also owned Icecapade and Private Terms.
Stuart S. Janney III is a member of the Board of Trustees of the New York Racing Association and of Keeneland Association. He is vice-chairman of The Jockey Club and serves as chairman of The Jockey Club’s Thoroughbred Safety Committee.
In 2013, Janney picked up his first win in the Kentucky Derby when Orb rallied for a 2 1/2-length win in the first jewel of the Triple Crown.
