Glencrest Farm was established in 1950 by John W. Greathouse and now is operated by his sons. In addition to the farm, son David also is a partner in Four Star Sales, which today is a main focus of Glencrest’s sales operation.
Glencrest has the rare distinction of selling yearlings that went on to win both the Kentucky Derby (1960 winner Venetian Way) and the Kentucky Oaks (1996 winner Pike Place Dancer). The operation has bred more than 90 stakes winners.
In the recent past, Grade 1-winning fillies Devil May Care, Panty Raid, and Honey Ryder have carried Glencrest's silks to the winner's circle. The operation typically maintains a small racing stable that includes horses that do not sell as yearlings.
