William S. Farish was a stockbroker in Houston. He ran a political campaign for future president George H.W. Bush, and from 2001-2004, served as United States Ambassador to the Court of St. James’s for President George W. Bush. He hosts Queen Elizabeth II on her visits to Kentucky. 

Farish founded Lane’s End in Versailles, Ky., in 1979, and today the farm is one of the world’s leading Thoroughbred operations. In 2009, Farish was honored with the Eclipse Award of Merit for a lifetime of outstanding achievement in racing.

Farish entered the national spotlight as owner of 1972 Preakness Stakes winner Bee Bee Bee, and singly or in partnership has raced more than 150 stakes winners. Among the more than 280 stakes winners Farish has bred singly or in partnership is 1992 Horse of the Year and leading sire A.P. Indy, who was pensioned in April 2011.  A.P. Indy retired to Lane’s End at the end of 1992 and went on to sire at least 135 stakes winners.

Lane's End also is now home to 2010 Horse of the Year Zenyatta.

Edward J. "Joe" Hudson Jr. is the son of E.J. Hudson Sr., the founder of Hudson Engineering Corp, a worldwide designer and builder of processing plants for the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries. In partnership with Farish, he has co-bred star broodmare Untouched Talent and 2014 Kentucky Derby contender Top Billing.
