Winning Prize was extremely accompished in his home country of Argentina, winning three Group 1s in 2012. After conquering that country, the horse's connections decided to ship him north to Neil Drysdale for an American campaign.

Winning Prize won his first start in the United States, a Del Mar allowance race by four lengths on the turf. He stepped up to Grade 1 competition to face Wise Dan in Kentucky, finishing fourth in the Shadwell Turf Mile Stakes on Keeneland's polytrack after the race was rained off the turf. He made one more start in 2013, finishing third in the Citation Handicap to end his season.

Winning Prize finally earned his first U.S. graded stakes victory on Feb. 1, 2014 when he won the Grade 2 Arcadia Stakes by 1 1/2 length. He became a Grade/Group 1 winner in two countries the following month when he won the Frank E. Kilroe Mile Stakes by 1/2 length over Lochte.
