Bred: Brylynn Farm (Fla.)

Sire: Northern Afleet

Dam: Teaksberry Road, by High Honors

Two years affter he started racing, and after only two graded stakes attempts, Teaks North landed his first Grade 1 win in 2011 when he won the Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap. He followed that up four months later with another Grade 1 in the United Nations but it was a year and a half until the gutsy gelding found the Winner's Circle again.

He only made three starts in 2012 but in his first 2013 outing, he won the Sunshine Millions Turf Stakes by 2 1/2 lengths. He hit the board in two graded stakes races, including a second in the 2013 edition of the United Nations Stakes before being placed in a $100,000 claiming race where he was claimed by Southern Equine Stable and transferred to Eric Guillot.

Teaks North comes from a useful family of stakes winners. He is a half brother to multiple Grade 2 winner Wooden Phone and listed stakes winner Teak Totem who is also the dam of Grade 2 Jerome Stakes winner Adios Charlie. By Northern Afleet, Teaks North shares the same sire as Preakness and Belmont Stakes winner Afleet Alex and Breeders' Cup Sprint winner Amazombie.
