Sweet Reason was an overachiever when she left Saratoga at the end of its 2013 meet. The filly had won her first two starts by a combined 12 lengths, including one of the top races of the meet. When she splashed home to a 5 3/4 length victory in the Grade 1 Spinaway Stakes, she gave trainer Leah Gyarmati and owner Treadway Racing Stable their first Grade 1 wins and made herself one of the top 2-year-old fillies in the country. She headed to Belmont to capture second place in the Grade 1 Frizette Stakes.
As a 3-year-old, Sweet Reason she won her seasonal debut in an allowance race before taking third in Aqueduct's Grade 2 Gazelle Stakes. She then captured her two more Grade 1 wins in the Acorn Stakes and the Test Stakes.
The filly is being pointed toward a start in the Sept. 20 Cotillion Stakes at Parx Racing.
Sweet Reason was bought by Treadway Racing for $185,000 at the Keeneland September yearling sale and the filly paid back their purchase price in her first two starts. Her sire [father] is Breeders' Cup Juvenile/Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense while her dam [mother] is stakes placed Livermore Leslie. Livermore Leslie is also the dam of Florida Oaks (G3) winnner Don't Forget Gil and comes from the family of Grade 2 winnner Timber Reserve.
