Sire: Tale of the Cat
Dam: Exotic Bloom, by Montbook
Breeder: Harvey Clarke & Brookdale Farm LLC (Ky.)
Stopchargingmaria was impressive in her debut when she won for fun by 5 1/2 lengths in a Saratoga maiden for Todd Pletcher and Repole Stable. The filly came back at the end of the meet to contest the Spinaway Stakes (G1) against a packed field but came up short, losing to Sweet Reason. While the filly was beaten by 5 3/4 lengths, she showed that she has talent when beating the rest of the field by 4 3/4 lengths.
After finishing third in the Grade 1 Frizette Stakes, Stopchargingmaria scored a breakthrough stakes win in the Grade 3 Tempted on Nov. 3 at Aqueduct. She followed with a second straight graded win in the Grade 2 Demoiselle Stakes on Nov. 30.
Stopchargingmaria entered the chase for champion 3-year-old filly in 2014 when she strung together three straight wins in the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at Pimlico Race Course and Grade 1 Coaching Club American Oaks and Alabama Stakes at Saratoga Race Course.
Her next start will likely come in either the Sept. 20 Cotillion Stakes at Parx Racing or the Sept. 27 Beldame Stakes at Belmont Park.
By Tale of the Cat, Shopchargingmaria is out of stakes winner Exotic Bloom. Her family includes Travers Stakes winner Vision and Verse and graded stakes placed Distorted Legacy among other stakes winners. Stopchargingmaria originally sold for $47,000 at the Keeneland September sale but came back as an impressive 2-year-old to sell for $220,000 at a 2-year-olds in training sale.
