Stephanie's Kitten is a Ken and Sarah Ramsey homebred daughter of Kitten's Joy, the 2004 U.S Champion Male Turf Horse the Ramseys also bred and raced and who currently stands at their Ramsey Farm in Kentucky. In the final two starts of her two year old campaign, Stephanie's Kitten won the nation's best grass race for 2-year-old fillies, the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, and the country's best synthetic track race for her division, the Alcibiades.
As a 3-year-old she won the Edgewood Stakes as well as the Lake Placid Stakes. Injury kept her to just three starts as a 4-year-old, including wins in the Grade 1 Just A Game Stakes and the Grade 2 Distaff Turf Mile and a show in the Grade 1 Diana, all on turf. The mare then finished eighth in her 2014 seasonal bow in the Grade 1 Jenny Wiley for new trainer Chad Brown.
Returning to the races in 2015, she won the Flower Bowl and Hillsborough Stakes and also finished second in the Beverly D on her way to another attempt at winning the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf, a race she finished second in in 2014. This time, Stephanie's Kitten took home the blanket of flowers and became one of a small list of horses to win two different Breeders' Cup divisions.
