Bred: Betz/Kidder/Gainesway/Graves/D.J. Stable/Cole (Ky.)
Dam: Boston Lady, by Boston Harbor
After winning his second career start, Normandy Invasion finished a fast-closing second in the Remsen Stakes (G2) in his third career race. Normandy Invasion became a fan favorite in 2013 when he finished fifth in the Risen Star Stakes (G2) before being the only horse to truly challenge undefeated Verrazano when he finished second by 3/4 lengths in the Wood Memorial (G1). He went on to defeat Verrazano and others with a fourth place run in the Kentucky Derby.
The colt was then rested until his 4-year-old season, with an allowance win and a runner-up finish to Palace Malice to his credit thus far.
Normandy Invasion is by Tapit, winner of the 2004 Wood Memorial and one of the top sires in the U.S. Tapit’s top runners include champions Stardom Bound and Hansen, both of whom excelled at 1 1/16 miles.
Unraced Boston Lady, by Boston Harbor, is the dam (mother) of Normandy Invasion. Normandy Invasion's maternal grandmother, Gay Senorita, was a half-sister (same dam [mother], different sire [father]) to three stakes winners, including graded stakes winners Gulls Cry and Gala Regatta.
