The stretch-running son of Belmont Stakes winner Jazil was competitive but winless in four starts as a 2-year-old in 2011 and found success as a 3-year-old. He picked up his first victory by a neck on January 14 at Oaklawn Park and won an allowance race by a length on March 2. Najjaar came back two weeks later for his first stakes race and made a belated rally in the stretch to finish sixth in the Grade 2 Rebel. Najjaar is from the first crop of horses sired by Jazil out of the Darshaan mare Hasheema. Jazil is a half-brother to the filly Rags to Riches, who won the Belmont Stakes in 2007.
