Executiveprivilege was bought for only $23,000 as a yearling, but she then was the $650,000 sale topper at the 2012 Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. spring sale of selected 2-year-olds in training. Purchased by trainer Bob Baffert for owners Karl Watson, Mike Pegram, and Paul Weitman, Executiveprivilege was named just two days before her debut. A little restlessness in the gate was the only sign it was her first start, as she shown a professional demeanor early in her 2-year-old season.

Baffert has been effusive in praise for Executive Privilege, calling her “pretty special”, “gifted”, a “female version of (2010 3-year-old champion) Lookin At Lucky” and comparing her to his champion Silverbulletday. She started her career with four wins on synthetic surfaces, including the Sorrrento Stakes (G3) and Del Mar Debutante (G1), but Baffert says she loves the dirt and the goal is the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) for her. She took a strong step toward that goal with a powerhouse 6 1/4-length runaway win in the Chandelier Stakes (G1) at the Juvenile Fillies track (Santa Anita Park) and distance (1 1/16 miles).

Executiveprivilege is by First Samurai and her mother is the Unaccounted For mare Refugee. Unaccounted For was best at one mile to 1 1/8 miles on dirt, but Refugee was graded stakes-placed on turf and also has produced stakes-placed turf performer Profit. Executiveprivilege’s great grandmother is Hall of Famer Davona Dale, winner of the 1979 Filly Triple Crown.
